Mischief Managed: Episode Seven

Hi, all—-like the Minister of Magic declared in Order of the Phoenix, “(S)he’s back!” Yep. I’m back at crafting some content for the Flynns blog and Flynns social. — Today’s blog offers a few things to help pass the time during “these uncertain times” because “we’re all in this together.” I don’t know about y’all but Derek and I are sick and tired of hearing both those statements. One thing that I’m freakin’ certain about is that these times are for sure on hold until there’s a vaccine for Covid-19. And no, I won’t be buying a car during these times so stop with all the damn commercials every 2 minutes.

So, yeah, I’m back and I’ve pulled together a new Mischief Managed episode which includes all kinds of fun nuggets from Brené Brown to coffee accessories to great deals and steals I found, at Anthropologie and Aerie. I hope you find something that excites you.

Most of y’all are probably familiar with Brené’s work on shame and vulnerability, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that she’s decided to launch a podcast. If I had an older sister, I’d want it to be Brené. She’s witty, raw, real, just the right amount nerd, and comes with zero bullshit. I didn’t want this particular conversation to end between Brené and Glennon Doyle. Throw those two together with Oprah, Elizabeth Gilbert, and Reese and the world’s problems would be fixed in14 days. Brené talks with Glennon about her newest book Untamed (see below) and their conversation will fill you up.

Along with 837K+ Instagram followers, I am in love with Glennon and her gift to put into words what it is to be a women, a wife, a mother, a friend, and the truest of true to yourself. If you liked/loved her previous titles, Carry on Warrior and Love Warrior, her latest book, Untamed, will not disappoint. And if you can afford the spare change and want to support local indie bookshops, who are most definitely struggling during the pandemic, do that; definitely do that. Here’s Untamed sold at a local bookshop near and dear to my heart. Want to support a local indie bookshop close to you? Find one here.

I don’t like to leave a freshly brewed pot of coffee sitting on the coffee maker burner because it starts to cook and burn the coffee and no one wants cooked coffee. Gross. I bought this carafe for our family several years ago and it was the best twenty bucks we spent. The price fluctuates on Amazon and has recently listed under $17, yay! I bought it again this past February for my mom and she’s just as pleased with it (maybe a mother’s day gift idea?). The insulation on this little gem is crazy! It keeps your coffee super-hot for hours and hours. Five stars. ★★★★★

I’ve worked from home since 2017, but a few times a week, I would have meetings outside the home office and/or would choose to work from Panera or Sbux which would require showering, a carefully curated outfit, and even a bit of mascara. Now we’re all working from home indefinitely (suck it pandemic) which requires very little of me. Seriously, I roll out of bed, throw on a sweatshirt (bra optional), maybe brush my teeth, and suit up at my laptop with a Keurig cup of coffee in less than 5 minutes. So I decided early on in this pandemic that it was time to add a few pieces to my work-from-home wardrobe. These Aerie leggings are my fav. Lela got me a pair for Christmas and I quickly became obsessed with them…so soft with the perfect amount of support and BONUS it has a pocket. No more dropping my phone down a flight of stairs when trying to carry my coffee, laptop, phone, and etc., from kitchen to office. So yup —I just added a new pair of work pants to my rotation. Will I forget how buttons and zippers work? Maybe. Maaaaybeee. But girls and guys, Aerie has been running some amazing sales and deals so nows the time to spruce up your work-from-home wardrobe too!

My sister-in-law gave me one of these boxes for my birthday last year and yeah, I guess I’m late to the party but I didn’t realize that my subscription comes with so much more. Fit Fab Fun isn’t just a subscription box service, it’s a lifestyle brand. My subscription also comes with access to their TV channel loaded with mini How-To video clips and full length workouts. I’ve been crushing on Frances Flores’ yoga sessions. She’s the real-deal yoga guru. I took advantage of a coupon code for this year’s spring box and was about to cancel my subscription and while on the website trying to figure out how to cancel, I discovered everything else that comes with my subscription (magazine, TV channel, book club, shopping deals, and more!). And so, since we can’t go to the studios or gyms thanks to our unwelcome menace, Covid, I figured this is money well spent if only to have access to the TV channel and fitness classes.

Everything on sale at Anthropologie is an extra 50% off. These little earrings spoke to me though they are a gift for someone else. I also got these sunglasses for cheap but they are no longer in stock. Aren’t they great?

So hopefully I’ve shared something here that excites you. Yeah? Would you please share with your friends? And your friends friends? Awe, thanks.

Until next time, be full of love today.
